ABOUT ME

Welcome!

I am currently a PhD student at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester.

My research lies at the intersection of public policy and corporate finance, drawing on my professional background in consulting and government. I am supervised by Professors Amedeo De Cesari and Konstantinos Stathopoulos.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, I will serve as Teaching Assistant for Financial Markets and Institutions (BMAN 21011) – led by Dr. Ellen Yazhou He and Dr. Aleksandr Ermakov – and for Empirical Finance (BMAN 30190) – led by Dr. Alex Taylor.

I hold a Licenciatura in Business Administration from the University of the Azores (Portugal) and a Master’s in Financial Management (Distinction and Dean’s Award for Achievement) from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester.

Additionally, I have completed various training courses in Sustainable Finance, Hotel Real Estate, Python, Project Management, and Policy Engagement.

I am a member of the Portuguese Professional Association of Economists, the Royal Economic Society, National Association for Business Economics, the European Finance Association, the International Corporate Governance Society, and the American Finance Association.

Before pursuing my PhD, I served as Financial Manager at the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation – a non-profit created by the University of the Azores to manage scholarships and R&D projects. I’m currently on unpaid leave from this role due to my PhD studies.

Between 2015 and 2021, I worked on contract with the Regional Government of the Azores in business investment, SME support, entrepreneurship, and agroindustry. During this period, I also chaired the Board of Directors of the Azores Youth Hostels (2015–2020), appointed by the company’s majority shareholder – the Regional Government of the Azores.

Earlier in my career, I worked at two consultancies based in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores.

Finally, I volunteered with local non-profits dedicated to promoting the inclusion of youths, from disadvantaged backgrounds, through cultural initiatives.
